CEA-PME hosts the inaugural meeting of MobiliseSME

The first meeting for MobiliseSME, a new project exploring the opportunities for cross border activities of Small and Medium Enterprises through exchange of employees, took place on 27-28th January at European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME Headquarters in Brussels.

We were happy to host the kick off meeting for this project which will enable entrepreneurs and employees in Europe to access the opportunity for a cross border mobility scheme dedicated to them, similar to the ERASMUS exchanges for University students.

Our project partners joined us at our headquarters in Brussels to set up the work plan for the project, which will last for one and a half year. We were joined by the German (BVMW), Italian (CONFAPI), French (AFDEE), Basque (ADEGI), Belgian (BDG), Hungarian (PÁTOSZ), Estonian (EVEA), Romanian (YEAR) and Turkish (MÜSIAD) federations of small and medium enterprises.

During the meeting, we set together the vision and the goals of The Mobilities for professionals and qualified employees of Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MobiliseSME) project. The aim of the project is to assess the feasibility of the idea and potentially open the way for a larger Europe-wide offer: a mobility plan for MSMEs’ employees like the Erasmus Program is for university’s students.

The project partners expect to deliver on this vision by working on three key parts of the project:

· An online survey with 100.000 MSMEs contacted in 19 EU countries + Turkey. This a great chance for companies to tell if and what they really want and expect from such an offer, so that they can reap the benefits afterwards.

· 2 focus groups will take place in 13 countries, giving space for entrepreneurs to state how they would such a cross border exchange program should work in details.

· The test run of 1-2 months for a pilot scheme of cross border exchanges. This will be the moment when MSMEs can truly gain by having employees participating or by hosting somebody.

MobiliseSME is about a win-win-win approach, where the hosting and sending MSMEs as well as the participating employee are rewarded by being part of this project. MSMEs will raise competitiveness by improving cooperation and opening new business opportunities while employees will acquire new skills and knowledge through this international experience.
